OUR MISSION
Founder's Story
"Lex Work" was founded by Alexis Schroll, who faced significant challenges after years of being an at-risk youth and eventually emancipated from foster care at 18, pregnant and lacking basic life skills or job readiness. Despite these obstacles, Alexis persevered, eventually earning a degree in Human Resources Management, and gaining experience in various HR roles, including HR director, staffing coordinator, and corporate recruiter.
In her role as a corporate recruiter, Alexis witnessed firsthand the barriers that young adults face in entering the workforce. Motivated by her own experiences and insights, she established "Lex Work" as a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing at-risk youth for employment opportunities. The organization works closely with juvenile detention centers, group homes, and local high schools to provide comprehensive job readiness programs.
"Lex Work" also partners with nearby prisons to support individuals upon release, offering services such as resume building, interviewing preparation, and access to job leads. Additionally, the organization extends its services to adults seeking to enter or improve their relationship with the workforce.
Through personalized coaching, skills training, and community partnerships, "Lex Work" aims to break down barriers to employment, foster personal growth, and empower individuals to build brighter futures.
